About the destination

Sardinia is the second biggest island in Italy, located in the heart of the Mediterranean. It lies directly south of Corsica, which is a part of France. The Greeks referred to it as Hyknusa or Ichnussa (Ιχνουσσα), derived from the Greek word Ichnos, meaning a human footprint, due to its resemblance to a large footprint. However, the name Sardinia comes from the Latin term Sardinia, which is what the Romans called it. Indeed, the name Sardinia was already recognized by the Phoenicians, as evidenced by the Nora Stele, the oldest written document discovered in western Sardinia, specifically in Nora, where it reads b-šrdn = In Sardinia.
