Le Mans, France

Le Mans France

Le Mans is a town in France, best known for its annual 24‑hour motor race. The town’s rich history, stretching back many centuries and including its time as the capital of the province of Maine, is too often overshadowed by the world‑famous 24‑hour race held on the edge of the city. There are, however, beautiful reminders of the past and a magnificently restored old town, which has been used as a backdrop for several films. At its heart stands the Cathedral of Saint-Julien, an absolute marvel that should not be missed. Very easy to reach from Paris, the city has a great deal to offer and deserves more than just a quick visit to its circuit when the engines are roaring. The “Cité Plantagenêt” may be one of France’s best‑kept secrets.
